Hi all!

The spring event is back!   We will congregate at the park a little bit before 1030 AM for the Egg hunt.  The hunt itself will be at 1030 AM.

Kids will be divided up by age group for the hunt.

We also will have another activity after the hunt is done!  Our wonderful Elise Manning will be hosting a STEM related egg drop on the tennis court.   Please see attached flyer for this event.   It’s new this year and I am so excited to see where it goes!

I am attaching the flyer about the Egg drop.   Contact info for questions is Elise Manning, the manningfamily@yahoo.com

We will also have Mini the donut out again from 10am to 1pm!   Light refreshments will also be served.

Here is the signup for the hunt-if you have any trouble, just email socialcommittee@highvalley.club, with your name, email and what task you wish to do.   This event is not possible without the wonderful volunteers that help me with it!

If I am not able to get enough volunteers, we will just have the egg drop and it will be fabulous!

After over a year and a half without our annual summer picnic…. It’s back!!!!! We will have our summer picnic on Saturday, August 28th from 3-7pm at the park. Plan on seeing old friends and making new ones! Here is the info: Food: We are having Pecos Pit Barbecue cater our event! More details to follow. Or, you can bring your own stuff. Due to COVID, there will be no potluck this year. As far as utensils, we will have cups, napkins and silverware, or, you can bring your own-whatever you are comfortable with. Drinks: We will have lemonade and water. Brad Simmons and his beer are back as well! The High Valley pub will be open for business-this is made possible by donations, so if you are planning on drinking the beer, please consider making a donation. Entertainment: We will have a live band, brought to you by the awesome Steve Manning and Co. Feel free to bring any sporting goods to play, soccer, kickball, volleyball… you name it. We all know how much the kiddos love water, so even though we won’t have a water bouncy house, we will have a slip and slide and sprinkler. Bring your water squirter so you can help keep your loved ones cool (on the tennis court)! Also, since the picnic is just a few days before school, let’s have a back to school ice cream social for the kiddos! Each kid will get one free ice cream. Additional ice cream will be available for purchase. Usually the ice cream is around $2 to $3 a pop. Laura Anderson will have tickets to hand out that you then present to ice cream vendor. Ice cream vendor will be there from 5 to 7pm.

Maple Hills Community has invited us to join them for National Night Out! Come down to the Maple Hills Park next Tuesday, August 3rd at 5pm.  King County Sheriff will be there to chat with community members!  The Maple Hills Community has also procured 2000 water balloons, along with a dozen nerf guns and darts and also, kickball! There will also be an ice cream truck!    The Scouts are cooking up a hot dog dinner for free! Learn about area services and small businesses right in the Maple Hills Community.   There will also be a live DJ that will take your requests.   This is sponsored by a dedicated group of volunteers and King County Area Services.   Food ends at 7pm-followed by a movie at dusk. This will be our second time to be invited to time with this wonderful neighboring community! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Our next food truck, 314 Pie, will visit High Valley’s playground on Sunday, July 11 from 5-8pm.  They sell savory (dinner) and sweet (dessert) pies.  Their menu can be found here:  https://www.314pieseattle.com/menu

It’s important to know a few things.  First, their pies are small (about 6” in diameter) and are definitely single-serve and you’ll probably want to make a salad to go with it, or buy the dessert pie, too!  Also, they typically have 2 or 3 additional pies that aren’t on their menu.  They have two vegetarian options, sometimes three if they make their ratatouille pie.

Their pies are quite dense and flavorful.  Sauce/gravy does not spill out when you cut them open.  They also often make 1 or 2 dessert pies that are not on the menu, and, just so you don’t get disappointed, they don’t always make all the dessert pies that are on the menu.

4th of July Parade, Picnic and 5K Run

Hello Neighbors,

We have an exciting opportunity for High Valley. We have been invited to join the nearby Maple Hills neighborhood for their annual 4th of July parade, picnic, and 5K Run. You are welcome to participate in one or all of those events. This is in lieu of the parade usually held in High Valley. We’re trying something new this year and are super excited about it! We hope you will be too!

Parade: The parade has decorated cars, motor bikes, parents walking or biking with their kids, and some are on the sidelines throwing candy to the participants. The parade starts at the Maple Hills pool parking lot at 12:30 (see map). High Valley neighbors will try to meet in the designated spot on the map around 12:00 (see purple star on map). You have the option to bring lawn chairs and watch the parade anywhere along the parade route or you can participate by walking with other High Valley neighbors. Kids can also decorate their bikes if they like. We should also have a banner to represent our neighborhood in the parade as well.

Picnic/Hotdog Feed: Free hotdogs will be served at the Maple Hills Park (see map) just after the parade. Since High Valley is new to this event, we will need to give them a head count by June 17th so they can adjust their hotdog order. If you need to change your commitment in any way, please do so before June 17th so that we can get an accurate count to our friendly neighbors who have graciously invited us to celebrate with them. Here’s the link to sign up for the hotdog feed.  There is an option to respond “maybe”, but please sign up only if you are a “yes”. We want to be able to pass on a firm head count for their hot dog order by the 17th

5 K Run: This event starts at 9am at the Maple Hills Pool Parking Lot (see map). You can find out more and register at this link if you like.

Parking: There should be parking at Maple Hills Elementary School (see map). If not, people generally park along the side roads without issue, just not on the parade route (see map). Just be careful not to block a driveway.

Address: Maple Hills Park, 15256 204th Ave SE, Renton, WA 98059

Hopefully, that covers it. If not, please reach out with any questions.
